Paris Trip

Hi hi, this is something that I should have posted long time ago. =P
finally posted. Went to Paris for 4 days on the 23rd to 26th March 07. Hehe...

Went to Paris by Eurostar from London Waterloo to Paris Gare du Nord, damage £59. Journey took about 3 hours. Started our journey by cab to Waterloo, damage £10. Reach Paris, went to Aloha Hostel only to found that they have problem with the bookings. Transfered to another budget hotel, Absolute Paris, without extra cost. Yay!!! =D

Started our journey to the Opera, didn't went in though. Continue to Notre Dame de Paris. A big church, there was a mass when we were there. No need to pay for going into the Church. Went up to the top of the tower, damage €4.80 (Student rate). Nice view, it was cloudy that day though. Went to Louvre next. Very big Museum, damage €6! The famous Monalisa is resting here. It's where the famous Da Vinci Code setting is. So big museum, can't really explore the whole museum. Some paintings in Louvre is really like a photo. I don't know how they could paint so much that it looks like a photo.

Second day, went to Grand Arche at La Defense. It's a big building resembling the Arc de Triomphe and they are in line. Next is the Arc de Triomphe itself. Didn't went up bcos we want to go up at night. Continue our walk along the Champs Elysees. This is where you can shop the branded goods in Paris. Went into Petit Palais, a free museum. Went to Musee d'Orsay. We were too late, the museum is closing. Then walked back to Arc de Triomphe to went up to it's roof. Nice night view around the city. Saw the Eiffel tower lighted up also. =D

Third day, went out of Paris to Versailles to go to the palace, damage, €16.50 (to go to the palace, free to the garden). It has very big garden. Super big!!! It should be nice to have a picnic in the garden. Hehehe... Spent half a day there. Went back to Paris to go up the Eiffel Tower. Went to the top level, damage €11.50. Very high!!! Huhuhu... It was so windy on top of the tower. The wind blow so strong. There's list of cities and how far they are from there. I found Jakarta. It's 11584km from there. Singapore is 10745km.

Last day and finally the sun shining like it never shone before, went to Montmarte/Sacre Coeur. Nice Church on the hill. You can see the whole city again from here. Everytime you went up to the high tower you can see this white Church from anywhere. On the way up, there are people trying to tie string on your hand, they won't ask you whether you want or not, just stop you and tie it on, then ask for money. If you don't want, you can just walk away. Some of them are persistent. But you can be more persistent than them. Just smile and walk away. If you decide to get it, it cost you €5, I think. There are some nice shops behind the Church. Take a stroll there, sit in one of the cafe there. It's nice ambience. From there, I went to Pantheon, damage €7.50. I found it's not worth to go in. It's a tomb of some famous and important people. Next Saint Chapelle, another Church, damage €7.50. Not really worth going in also for the price. It just one small room in there, although the big long windows was made of colourful glass that picture the chapters in Bible. Walked around area near St Michel. They have lotsa restaurants and cafe. Three course meal is around €15 and two course about €10 which I think not a bad bargain.

Went back to hostel at 1930 to get our luggage and leave to Gare du Nord to take our train back to London Waterloo. Eurostar is not as good as I thought it was. The seat is big enough but hardly enough space for our leg. Maybe because four of us sat facing each other with table in front ofus. It's the family space. Not very comfortable.

Reached Slough at about midnight. It was a nice trip despite of three cloudy days. Huhuhu...
